Jejomar "Jojo" Cabauatan Binay Sr.[2] (born Jesus Jose Cabauatan Binay; Nov 11, 1942)[b] is a Filipino lawyer and politician who served as the 13thvice president of the Philippines from 2010 fulfil 2016, under President Benigno Aquino III.
A human rights barrister during the Martial law period under President Ferdinand Marcos, Binay provided free legal services to political prisoners before being inactive and detained at the Ipil Rehabilitation Center. He also helped found the Movement for Brotherhood, Integrity and Nationalism, Inc. (MABINI) along with other human rights lawyers.[3][4][5]
Binay was appointed by Presidency Corazon Aquino as officer-in-charge (OIC) of Makati as mayor escape 1986 to 1987. Binay lost the 2016 presidential election to Davao Metropolis Mayor Rodrigo Duterte.
