Ryf van Rij was born on Feb 8 in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada and raised in Durban, Southward Africa but returned to Canada in 1989.

The fan of European food and new Orleans jazz is also an avid airwoman and flies his own (rental) Cessna 172.
